Broken for the Broken

Why do we need to do missions? People may say it is a meaningful act. People may say that it is good to spread the love of GOD. People may also answer that it is a command from our LORD, JESUS CHRIST (Mt28:19-20).

Even though JESUS was not asked this question directly, HE did read out the Scripture in the synagogues after HE spent 40 days in the desert. Luke 4:18-19 (NIV) “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight forthe blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

After HE read this Scripture, all the eyes were focusing on HIM. HE was the center of attention. Is HE also the center of your heart? Or is your heart too hard to allow HIM to come and make HIS words fulfilled in your life? Is your heart too hard to listen to HIS voice?

JESUS tells the people in the synagogue that what HE read to them is now fulfilled. JESUS CHRIST is the answer to this broken world – a world full of broken people, broken souls, broken relationship, broken values, broken lifestyles, broken promises, broken hopes, broken families and broken hearts. None of them can be truly healed without Christ. HE is the one to show the power of the love of GOD to this broken world. HE is one to set men free from the bondage of sin and all oppression. HE is the answer. HE is the solution to all the sinful problems embedded in this world.

Why do we need to do mission? People are suffering without hope and dying in sin. But without CHRIST in our hearts, their suffering and living in vain means nothing to us. Our hearts are hard.

Around 3,500 years ago, Pharaoh had his heart hardened that he did not see the glory of GOD and the humanity of people. He let his people suffer because of his own pride and inhuman view of people. This is not what we follow! We follow our LORD, JESUS CHRIST. His heart is full of love, grace and mercy. If we abide in HIM, our hearts should align with HIS heart:

GOD loves HIS people and sent HIS only begotten son for them. HIS one and only son, JESUS CHRIST, came to heal their grief, died on the cross to cover their sins, and imposed HIS righteousness upon them, so that their broken lives and relationship with GOD can be repaired, restored and redeemed. The true meaning of life will be found in CHRIST. Everyone can receive the blessed hope of one day of having eternal life with our GOD in the heaven where only love, joy and peace are presentforever!

GOD wants HIS children (Christians) not to turn away from the broken hearts and souls but to have compassion and pray for GOD’s mercy for them. So our hardened hearts need to be broken by HIS Spirit in order to carry HIS love and grace to the broken world. Our hardened hearts need to be softened in order to feel the hurts that people hide in their broken hearts. Our hardened hearts need to be transformed into a CHRIST-like one. JESUS was moved when HE saw the broken world. HIS heart sank when HE saw HIS sheep in ignorance.

1 John 2:27 (NIV) “As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him.”

ACEM 39th Missions Conference is coming. Do you only see it just as an event? Do you only see it as a Friday night program? Or do you see it as a heart changing moment? No matter how hard your hearts have been in the past, we pray that it would change in the coming months. We pray that you will get out of the coziness and warmth of your comfort zone and seek for alignment of your hearts with JESUS’ heart. We pray that you will be encouraged and inspired by many faithful missionaries and GOD’s servants who are coming to share their stories, ministries, struggles, and needs with us in the ACEM 39th Missions Conference.

We believe you have been set free by JESUS for the purpose of proclaiming HIS good news to the rest of the broken world, so that HIS Words are also fulfilled in you as well. Let the broken world experience the resurrecting power of JESUS CHRIST that eternal hope can come to all the broken hearts and souls. May the SPIRIT fall upon on us to proclaim the Gospel of JESUS CHRIST in this lost and dying world. Amen!
